Master Of Education (Educational Psychology)

Rationale

Educational psychology offers students valuable insights into how people learn and plays an important role in informing educational strategies and teaching methods. It also explores the emotional, social, and cognitive factors that can influence how people learn with a view to enhancing learning experiences and outcomes.

Entry Requirements

• The common regulations for all Master’s Degrees in the University shall apply.
• The general regulations for all Master’s degree in the School of Education shall apply.

The following shall be eligible for registration for M.Ed. in the Department:

1. A holder of Bachelor of Education Degree in related field, with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) or equivalent from Kenyatta University or any recognized institution.
2. Those with Second Class (Lower Division) may be considered on condition that they have at least two years of relevant work experience OR have Grade “C” and above in units relevant to their areas of specialization.

• A holder of Bachelor’s degree with postgraduate diploma in education from Kenyatta University or any other recognized university.

Mode and Structure of Delivery

The programme is offered throughthe regular (full-time), part-time (evenings in City Campus) and Continuing Education Programme (CEP) modes of study.

Campus mode: Main & Mombasa

Intake: September & January of every academic Year

Programme Duration: Two years

Evaluation

The course will be evaluated as follows: A minimum of two CATs scored out of 40% and the University examinations scored out of 60%. Total score shall be 100%. Pass marks 50%.

The total course units will be 18 as follows;

• Regular (full-time) and part-time students will take 10 coursework units plus a thesis which is equivalent to 8 units.
• CEP students will take 14 coursework units plus a Project which is equivalent to 4 units.
