- ARTICLE 5: Impact of Integrating Basic Science Process Skills on Students’ Performance in Biology Practical in Vihiga County, Kenya. Authors: Kadenyi Mercy Osotsi, Dr. Wambasi Aineah Wang’anya, Dr. Michael Muchoki Waititu Journal: International Journal of Research in Social Science and Humanities (IJRSS), Vol. 6 No. 1 (2025) Abstract Summary: This study investigated how integrating Basic Science Process Skills (BSPS)—such as observation, classification, and experimentation—impacts students’ performance in biology practicals. Using a quasi-experimental design grounded in constructivist theory, the researchers compared two groups: one taught using hands-on practical activities and another using traditional teacher-centered methods. The sample included 384 Form Three students from 12 schools in Vihiga County. Results from pre- and post-tests showed a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group’s performance. The study recommends incorporating BSPS into biology instruction to enhance learning outcomes.
- ARTICLE 4: Teachers’ Preparedness to Integrate Three-Dimensional Computer Animation in Teaching DNA Replication in Public Secondary Schools in Murang’a County, Kenya. Authors: Jack Muchiri Mwangi, Dr. Wambasi Wang’anya Aineah, Dr. Michael Muchoki Waititu Journal: Reviewed Journal International of Education Practice, Vol. 6 No. 1 (2025) Abstract Summary: This study explored the readiness of biology teachers in Murang’a County to adopt 3D computer animation for teaching DNA replication. Grounded in the Technology Acceptance Model, the research assessed teachers’ attitudes, technical skills, and institutional support. While most teachers expressed positive attitudes toward using animation, many lacked the necessary training and infrastructure. The study recommends targeted professional development and improved ICT resources to enhance the integration of digital tools in science education.
- ARTICLE 3: A Comparison of Mathematics Achievement of Learners Who Learned Using Peer Tutoring Strategy and Those Who Learned Without Using Peer Tutoring. Authors: Iyamurenye Regis, Florence K. Nyamu, Aineah W. Wambasi Journal: International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science (IJRISS), Vol. 8, Issue 12, 2024 Abstract Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of peer tutoring as a teaching strategy in improving mathematics achievement among Form II students in Kiambu County, Kenya. Guided by Vygotsky’s Social Constructivism theory, the researchers used a quasi-experimental design involving control and experimental groups across four public secondary schools. The experimental group received instruction through peer tutoring, while the control group followed traditional methods. Results from pre- and post-tests showed a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group’s performance. The study concludes that peer tutoring can be a powerful tool in enhancing student learning outcomes in mathematics.
