Prof. Jackline Nyerere is an Associate Professor of Education at Kenyatta University, Kenya. She also leads the University Green Education Hub, which provides a platform for youth and students to take climate action and contribute to sustainable development. Jackline serves as Secretary, Centre for Education and Sustainable Development in Africa – a network that seeks to strengthen the role of higher education in the Sustainable Development Agenda.
Jackline’s work focuses on skilling and education for sustainable development. Her current studies include the Strengthening the Development and Assessment of Life Skills Education in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda under the ALiVE initiative co-implemented by Zizi Afrique Foundation; and the Building Climate knowledge ecosystems for Policy-Making in Kenya and Tanzania co-implemented by Kenyatta University, University of Dar es Salaam and University College London and funded by the British Academy. Jackline’s recent studies include the construction and governance of transnational higher education research collaborations funded by CODESRIA; the role of higher education in building a sustainable African Society funded by AfDB; the Transforming Universities for a Changing Climate (Climate-U) research funded by UKRI; and the Integration of transferable skills into basic and TVET levels to enhance the employability of women in Kenya funded by BMGF.
