Rationale
This programme aims at providing students with knowledge and skills to support individuals, especially students, in navigating various life challenges and promoting their well-being. This rationale stems from the increasing recognition of the importance of guidance and counselling services in educational settings and beyond. These services address academic, personal, social, and career-related needs, helping individuals make informed decisions, develop coping mechanisms and achieve their full potential.
Entry Requirements
Mean grade of C (plain) at KCSE or Div. III at KCE or Mean grade of C- (minus) at KCSE or equivalent with Certificate in the relevant area from a recognized institution.
Mode of Study and Delivery
The Diploma course in Guidance and Counselling is offered through Virtual and Open Learning (VOL) mode of learning. The course is by course work, field practicum and project.
Programme Duration: 18 months.
Intake: September & January of every year
Evaluation
The course is evaluated through sit in continuous assessment tests, take away assignments, project and examination. The sit in CATs account for 40% while the university examination accounts for 60%. This totals to 100%. Pass mark is 40%.
